BioFach 2022
“Green smoke” for the first time at BioFach Trade Fair
Product and environmentally friendly smoking process for organic products JAMconsult22062022
Now it is official: With the participation of the CleanSmoke Coalition at this year’s BIOFACH trade fair, the product- and environmentally-friendly smoking process with pre-purified smoke has arrived in the organic sector. At the exhibition stand in Hall 5/439 and at the technical lecture on Tuesday (26 July 17:15 Room Seoul), the CleanSmoke Coalition, together with the first organic producers, will provide information about the application and the advantages of this smoking process for product, people and the environment – and will present organic products smoked with CleanSmoke.
For three years, the CleanSmoke Organic Educational Campaign has been working on national and European level with NGOs and official bodies to establish a product and environmentally friendly smoking process for organic meat processing and other smoked organic products. After major disruptive processes have always emanated from the organic sector with organic products in the mainstream, plant-based meat substitutes and better forms of animal husbandry, CleanSmoke will now again send a strong signal for the transformation of the food industry.
The Directorate of the EU Agriculture Commission has approved the application – submitted by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture – to allow a “smoking process without ash, tar and PAHs” for organic products.
In addition to the scientifically proven ecological and sustainable advantages in the “CleanSmoke Dossier“ was, that a smoking process with pre-purified smoke in the smokehouse application and the product properties aimed for in the process are comparable to conventional smoking processes.
In addition to more detailed information and explanations here on this campaign website www.cleansmoke-information.eu , the main savings potentials with pre-purified smoke compared to conventional smoking processes are listed in advance:
Jürgen Michalzik, head of the CleanSmoke Organic Educational Campaign, summarises the concept and objective of the Europe-wide campaign: “As the leading impulses for the necessary sustainable-organic transformation of our food economy are increasingly coming from organic producers and organic consumers, we will soon see the CleanSmoke seal on many smoked products throughout the trade.”
